The Parish Council met with the Road Safety Team Leader and Highways Technical Engineer from Telford & Wrekin Council on 20th June 2023.

The Parish Council presented all the suggestions for safer roads in this Parish that have been made by local people through the Transport Working Group and online Road Safety Survey conducted in Feb-Apr 2023.

This meeting was very encouraging, and the Parish Council had the opportunity to discuss all options in detail, we expressed that we feel our roads need to be safer and better respected and how we go about achieving that.

The team at Telford & Wrekin Council have now gone away with copies of all survey responses, minutes of the Transport Working Group and more suggestions provided by Councillors and the Clerk with a follow up email of requests from the Clerk.

Telford & Wrekin Council will now prepare an initial draft scheme in consultation with the Clerk, this will also include some site visits with the Clerk and Highways Technical Engineer for the Engineer to fully understand the local need and specific requirements of these requests.

While there is no timeline forecasted yet, Councillors felt that the Highways Team do want to help and are willing to work with us and allow us to use their legislative knowledge in terms of highways and road safety.

Once the first initial scheme proposals are drafted, the Transport Working Group will meet to go over what Telford & Wrekin Council have done so far and look at anything that needs more work before we go out for the first phase of public consultation.

Telford & Wrekin Council have agreed for the Parish Council to lead all public consultation with their support as we can ensure it is more inclusive where Telford & Wrekin Council’s standard consultations are rather short and have standard limited (but legally compliant) means to advertise.

We look forward to giving more information and updates as this scheme progresses and want to thank all residents so far that have contributed to the Transport Working Group meetings, our survey and their regular contact. All of this has been so helpful and empowering to Councillors.
